In his early years he was devoted to religious imagery and produced several carvings for the convent of Santa Catalina in Barcelona. In 1809 he went into exile in Mallorca because of the French invasion, where he opened a statuary and furniture workshop. He returned to Barcelona in 1822. One of his most significant works is the fountain of Neptune, currently located in the Plaça de la Merced in Barcelona.
