Considered one of the greatest exponents of Noucentista aesthetics. He trained at the Llotja, where he came into contact with the colla del safrá, travelled to Paris and there he met Picasso and Hugué. In 1908 he founded his first studio in Sitges, where he established himself definitively. From this period onwards he exhibited constantly in Europe and held a decisive exhibition in Barcelona in 1911 at the Galeria Fayans Català. His trip to Italy in 1913 reaffirmed his Mediterraneanism. In the 1920s he turned towards the New Objectivity period, which coincided with an abundant production of portraits. The Spanish Civil War took him by surprise in France, and he did not return to Spain until 1942. During this last period he held several exhibitions in Barcelona and Madrid.
