Son of the painter Pieter de Vos the Elder. He is best known for his paintings and designs of historical subjects. He was one of the leading history painters in the Netherlands in the second half of the 16th century. A prolific draughtsman, he produced numerous designs for Antwerp printers that were widely circulated in Europe.
