JOAQUÍN TORRES-GARCÍA (1874-1949)

A drawing in a marked modernist style, possibly a sketch for a lithograph or poster (unknown). The empty poster in the lower right margin seems to indicate this.

Torres-García had access to numerous publications from Parisian modernist magazines in the great Library of the School of the “Sant Lluc” Circle in Barcelona. The influence of Toulouse-Lautrec’s poster art is evident here.
