Fortuny engravings

Marià Fortuny Marsal, Mariano Fortuny Madrazo

3 December, 2007 - 12 February, 2008

First exhibition of our Cabinet of Graphical Arts of Palau Antiguitats in which can be seen more than thirty engravings of the brilliant Catalan artist Marià Fortuny Marsal (1838-1874). Although not so numerous, its graphic production is considered a continuation of the Spanish tradition of great names like Ribera and Goya. Noteworthy are his engravings Arab guarding his friend or Anchorite, among other prints, as well as some first states. The exhibition also includes about a dozen engravings of his son, Mariano Fortuny Madrazo (1871-1949), less known, but equally a forerunner of modernity. Some of the pieces shown are unpublished like Landscape with terrace and tree to the right. With this exposure we inaugurate our brand new space.
