GIOVANNI-BATTISTA PIRANESI (1720-1778)
Print before the letter of the work: Vases, candlesticks, cippi, sarcophagi, tripods, lamps, and ancient ornaments drawn and incised from the Cav. Gio. Batt. Piranesi published in the year MDCCLXXIIX, published in Rome in 1778 in two volumes. Print made before the inscriptions placed in the upper area and the name of the artist. Begun by Giovanni-Battista around 1768, it seems that the work was continued by his son Francesco after the artist’s death.
