JACQUES CALLOT (1592-1635) (drawing);
ANONYMOUS (engraving)
France, 1627.
18th century print.
Etching on laid paper.
Set of nine prints engraved from the series made by Jacques Callot to illustrate Henry Humbert’s book. It is the parade organised by Duke Charles IV to welcome the Duchess of Chevreuse in 1627. Interesting for the fantasy displayed in allegorical floats, machines and lively parades. Callot was in charge of the design and organisation of the event, and made the engravings for this purpose.
Approximate measurements of papers and plates. With margins. Good state of preservation.
