FRANCISCO DE GOYA Y LUCIENTES (1746-1828)
Very rare proof of printing prior to the first edition of print no. 7 belonging to the series of Los Caprichos (1797-1799).
Etching, aquatint and drypoint on laid paper. Annotations on the recto, upper margin, in pen and black ink: 60. On the verso, lower right margin, in pencil Pts 15. Faint foxing marks, folds in the paper and small perimeter grafts that do not affect the image. Despite this, good condition.
A state proof (Capricho no. 17) and two before the letter (Caprichos 9 and 32), with the same handwritten numbers, folds and paper larger than the first edition, were acquired by the Museo Nacional del Prado in the year 2009 and presented in the exhibition No sólo Goya.
